The EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” has provided assistance with organisation of a series of trainings ”Presentation of the Concept for direct communications between the public and the judiciary, and implementation of best communication practices between the courts and the public”. Organised by the High Council of Justice of Ukraine, the trainings are aimed at chief justices and take place in five cities – Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, Kyiv and Dnipro.
The purpose of the events is to share best practices in courts’ relations with the public and the mass media. The judges receive practical advice on crisis communications, as well as recommendations from the press service of State Court Administration of Ukraine on working with information in courts, optimal use of media resources to raise awareness on a court activity, as well as the development of communication strategies.
The training participants also have an opportunity to raise problem issues related to effective communication and get advice on available solutions.
The Concept for direct communications between the public and the courts was approved by the joint Justice System Committee in July 2017.
