Klaus Huener, Key Expert, Prevention and Fight Against Corruption, participated in the round table “Anti-Corruption laws – preventing a step back” held at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center on October 13.

Among the participants of the event were Andriy Marusov, Head of Transparency International in Ukraine, Yuriy Lavrenyuk, Head of All-Ukrainian Special Collegium for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime and Daria Kalenyuk, Center for Prevention of Corruption.

Organized by the Reform Support Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the event was aimed at discussion of the package of anti-corruption legislation, put to a vote in the Parliament of Ukraine for 14 October.

The participants of the round table discussed perspectives of the anti-corruption law and how it reflects expectations inside and outside Ukraine; institutional capacities for reforms; lustration in the law-enforcement system. The main focus was made on the issue of establishing the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

Klaus Huener shared some information about the European practices and experiences regarding anti-corruption measures and lustration.
