EU project “Support the Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” reaffirms its commitment to assist Ukraine in building the capacity of the criminal justice system to deal with recovery of proceeds of crime.

According to Virgilijus Valancius, the EU Project Team Leader: “Drafting the laws on the special confiscation institute improvement, on property seizure and establishment of the Assets Recovery Agency is a step towards further approximation of Ukrainian laws with the European and international standards and is in line with the EU recommendations within the framework of visa liberalization”.

Dr. Valancius emphasized that ensuring the rights of all parties to the proceedings entailing special confiscation is very important for Ukraine. He states that the EU Project “Support to the Justice Sector Reform in Ukraine” affirms its commitment to assist Ukrainian stakeholders in drafting legislative initiatives and institutional capacity building in these important aspects of Ukrainian legislation.
