The EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine organized a visit for the leadership of the key anticorruption agencies of Ukraine to the headquarters of Eurojust and Europol in Hague. The visit took place on 27-28 September.
Artem Sytnyk, Director of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Gizo Uglava, First Deputy Director of NABU and Nazar Kholodnytskiy, Head of the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), together with representatives of the legal, analytical and investigative department of NABU and corruption crime prosecutors from SAPO met with Michèle Coninsx, President of Eurojust.
The Ukrainian delegation visited in Europol to acknowledge how NABU and SAPO may establish operational cooperation with Europol to enhance the effectiveness of cross border crimes investigation and tracing of stolen assets.
Eurojust is an agency of the European Union created to improve handling of serious cross-border and organized crime by stimulating investigative and prosecutorial co-ordination among agencies of the EU Member States. The cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Eurojust was signed in June 2016.
Europol is the law enforcement agency of the European Union to provide support through information exchange, intelligence analysis, expertise, and training, can contribute to the executive measures carried out by the relevant national authorities. The cooperation agreement between Ukraine and Eurojust was signed in 2009.
