On 08 April, Mika Aalto, Key Expert of the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”, took part in the seminar dedicated to the interaction between the detectives of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), and the prosecutors of the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecution of Ukraine in criminal proceedings.
The seminar was organized by the German Foundation on the International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) which is a part of the consortium implementing the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”. The experts from the EU Member States trained the officials of Ukrainian anticorruption institutions on interaction methods between the prosecution and police during criminal proceedings, as well as peculiarities of anticorruption crimes’ investigation and crime detection.
Mika Aalto spoke about international and European dimension in the course of cross-border investigations. “This seminar is focusing on police-prosecution cooperation. There are several dimensions in approaches. They are going to establish this kind of cooperation and enhance knowledge when it comes to evaluate the value of evidence and how to deal with the legal aid request, as well as to know the instruments when it comes to cross-border crimes,” – he noted.
