EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” has joined the efforts with the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) for implementation of project “Effectiveness of the Disciplinary Organs in the System of Justice” project.
The Project is aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and quality of the disciplinary practice, strengthening its outcomes, protection of judges’ rights, increasing the public confidence in Ukrainian judiciary. The project will be implemented by a joint group of the national and European experts.
Within the framework of this project, on March 16, 2016, a working meeting was held to establish cooperation between the parties. Virgilijus Valancius, Team Leader of the EU Project “Support to the Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”, Denys Bugay, UBA President, Oleksiy Muravyov, Deputy Head of the High Council of Justice (HCJ) and other partners participated in the discussion. The participants to the meeting discussed engagement of the EU Project experts in the work with a purpose to modify the HCJ Rules of Procedure with regard to improvement of the disciplinary proceedings on judges. It is further planned to hold a number of joint events within the framework of the Project implementation to inform judges, advocates and the public on the activities of disciplinary bodies of the judiciary.
