For purposes of pre-assessment and background analysis, the EU Project invited Peter Murray, expert on technical support and communication of the Merseyside County Probation Service (UK). He is intending to assess capacity of building horizontal-vertical network for information exchange between probation units and development of electronic database for registration of offenders under probation.
Along with the discussions with the SPS experts, the EU Project experts have already held meetings with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Ministry of Interior of Ukraine and State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. The meetings focused on the terms of reference on the electronic system, which should fall under provisions of the Law “On probation” and meet the needs of all types of probation, as well as help to introduce electronic case management system.
Since February 2015, the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” has been working persistently for promoting the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On probation”. In this regard, European experts are involved to prepare legislative framework that would regulate and promote the implementation of the said law. This work also aims the tasks envisaged by the Justice Sector Reform Strategy 2015-2020.
