With a completion of the training program for the anticorruption detectives, the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” continues to respond to institutional needs of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) by providing advice in setting up its analytical capabilities.
“As part of our overall support to NABU one of the key priorities at the moment is setting up its organisational structure, particularly establishment of efficient and effective analytical department,” – said Mika Aalto, Key Expert on Prevention and Fight Against Corruption.
The EU Project has engaged Alina Arucsandei, the intelligence analysis expert from Romania, to assist with development of the infrastructure for the NABU Analytical Unit. Specifically, Alina Arucsandei supports design of internal regulations of the Analytical Unit by merging extensive practical experience in law enforcement intelligence analysis. As a result of this mission, the investigation capabilities of NABU will be enhanced through implementation of the best European practices.
Taking into account the complexity of cases to be investigated within the NABU mandate, it is expected that investigative capabilities of the institution will be strengthened in a very short timeframe. Intelligence analysis concepts, principles, techniques and methods, financial analysis and financial investigation are basic elements for initial training of the NABU analysts.
The Mission will last till the end of January 2016.
