Last week the EU-funded Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” conducted an expert mission from Bulgaria, Lithuania and Serbia. Three experts – Katilin Popov (Bulgarian), Elmyra Mickiene (Lithuanian), and Damir Site (Serbian) shared their experience as private enforcement officers (PEOs), by conducting series of meetings and round-tables, as well as by speaking in front of the majority of Ukrainian PEOs at the international conference on 11 July.
Dovydas Vitkauskas, EU Project Team Leader, states: “Privatisation of enforcement service is a general trend in EU. Most new EU Member States from post-communist countries, especially, have either fully private or mixed (combination of private and State) enforcement services. It is one of those rare areas where very quick progress was made to improve the rule of law, and we are sure Ukraine can join them very soon”
