On 07 July, The EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Bar Association, organized an expert discussion of disciplinary liability of the judges in the light of on-going judicial reform in Ukraine.
The participants to the event discussed novelties in the draft law of Ukraine “On the High Council of Justice” which have been developed by the Judicial Reform Council under the President of Ukraine.
According to Kostyantyn Krasovskiy, Chief of the Head Department for Legal Policy of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, a purpose of the mentioned draft law is to ensure independence and political neutrality of the future members of the High Council of Justice selected through competition.
Arturas Driukas, Expert of the EU Project and Judge of the Court of Appeal of Lithuania, presented his key recommendations for improvement of disciplinary provisions of the draft Law “On High Council of Justice”. The recommendations will be published in the near future.
