On 7-8 September 2017 the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”, together with the Ukrainian Bar Association, held a series of round tables dedicated to the results of the selection of judges to the new Supreme Court. The events were attended, among others, by Reda Moliene, the Project Expert and Director of the National Courts Administration of Lithuania.
Ms Moliene commended the process run by the High Qualification Commission of Judges (HQC): “Ukraine is trying a unique path of technocratic and transparent approaches in the judiciary selection at such a high level”.
The participants of the events included members of HQC, High Council of Justice, Public Integrity Council, heads of regional courts and other representatives of the legal community. The discussions involved various topics ranging from legal and psychological testing to the future role of the new Supreme Court in ensuring greater uniformity of practice.
