Mika Aalto and Petro Pavlychenko, the Key Expert and the National Expert of EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” on Prevention and Fight against Corruption, held a meeting with Artem Syntyk, Director of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), to discuss the results of cooperation.
In the course of the meeting, Mr. Sytnyk acknowledged a role of the EU Project EU “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”. He noted that the EU Project was the first donor instrument to provide a significant expert support from the first days of establishment of NABU in 2015.
“Your contribution to the development of NABU has been very essential. Now it is bringing positive results,” – said Artem Sytnyk.
“We are extremely pleased to have this unique opportunity to intensively contribute the establishment of NABU from handful of workers to 500 workers. As a result we may now witness how it became operationally active and effective institution”– said Mika Aalto
Since April 2015, the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” has been involved in building institutional capacities of the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine through provision of training to the NABU detectives, setting up an organizational structure to establish efficient analytical department, sharing best practices of the EU Member States and establishing cooperation with the Europol and Eurojust.
