On 26 July 2017 the Ministry of Justice held a round table dedicated to the launch of private enforcement officers (PEOs) profession. A wide range of issues was discussed, including the use of registers, liability insurance, offices requirements, and the relationship with State enforcement officers.
The round table was attended by the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko, Deputy Minister Serhiy Shklyar, number of first PEOs, domestic and international experts, including the EU Project “Support Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” Team Leader Dovydas Vitkauskas.
“Private enforcement officer is a new legal profession. I am proud to have taken part in its creation together with the Ministry of Justice team, our European and international partners. The main task of the new profession is to make sure that court decisions are not simply issued but that they are also effectively enforced. I encourage private enforcement officers to be guided only by the law, maintaining the sense of justice and honesty to themselves and the parties to proceedings”, – stated the Minister during the meeting.
