The mandate of the EU “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” has envisaged assistance to capacity strengthening for Ukraine’s anticorruption institutions. On 24 November, Mika Aalto and Petro Pavlychenko, the Key Expert and the National Expert of EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” on Prevention and Fight against Corruption, met with Nazar Holodnytskiy, Head of the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, to reflect the progress achieved and define needs for further support.
“Everyday we face challenges to overcome and for that reason we are in need to have assistance from international experts. We have benefitted from the EU Project inputs in order to create functioning work processes internally and, moreover, supported us to link with international organisations, such as Eurojust and Europol,” – noted Nazar Kholodnytskiy.
“The Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office fulfills one of the most challenging missions. For that reason we decided to focus on specific areas that they can immediately utilise new skills and establishment of connections,” – said Mika Aalto.
The EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” has been involved in building institutional capacities of the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine through provision of training to the prosecutors and establishing connections with the EU law-enforcement institutions.
